
Education & Training Summit to feature pastry chef Alistair Birt
While studying Culinary Arts Management at the University of West London, Birt represented the UK in pastry and confectionery at WorldSkills 2009 under Yolande Stanley MCA. He later spent six years with William Curley MCA, rising to head chocolatier, before becoming head pastry chef at Harrods in 2016.
His career highlights include an Acorn Award, UK Chocolate Master, Craft Guild Pastry Chef of the Year, and achieving MCA status. In 2025, the Georgian Restaurant at Harrods, under his leadership, won Afternoon Tea of the Year.
The Summit will be an inspiring event for culinary educators and professionals taking place at Loughborough College. Proceedings begin with a networking dinner on the evening of 8th January, followed by a full day of sessions on 9th January exploring the future of hospitality education and skills.
