Chefs in Schools launches guide to help schools deliver breakfast clubs
The free guides, which offer ready-to-use recipes, advice and staffing tips to help schools deliver a successful breakfast club service, are available to download.
Created in response to the practical challenges schools may face in setting up and running breakfast clubs, the guides are designed for the different types of breakfast club models schools are working with — from quick grab and go stations, tabletop kitchen setups to full sit-down offerings.
Each guide is packed with easy recipes - tested on over 200 primary school pupils, expert tips, time-saving advice and suggestions to suit different school contexts and budgets. Whether schools are starting from scratch or looking to level up their current breakfast offering, the guides are designed to make it easier.
The resources also includes:
- A dedicated SEND school guide to ensure inclusive, accessible breakfast provision
- A customisable head of breakfast job specification template to support staffing needs
- Ideas for making breakfast welcoming, nutritious and low-waste
Naomi Duncan, chief executive of Chefs in Schools, said: “Schools are being asked to do more than ever – and while the breakfast club initiative is a hugely positive step, it’s also a big operational shift. We wanted to offer something genuinely helpful and practical, created with real schools in mind.”
Working directly with schools to improve menus, train kitchen teams and embed food education into the school day, the charity believes every child deserves access to real, nourishing food — and the knowledge and skills to enjoy it for life.
