Winter 2008 - OOH Live 2008

At OOH Live, the inaugural exhibition for coffee shops, bakers, delis and sandwich bars, the Craft Guild hosted a series of live demonstrations.
More than 2,000 visitors from the brunch, lunch and snacking industry passed through the doors at Earls Court in London to attend the two day OOH Live exhibition in November.

As well as more than 120 exhibitors showcasing their latest equipment, services, and food and drink products, that included Craft Guild business partners such as McCain Foods, Nestlé’s Schöller Ice Cream and Premier Foods, the event hosted a number of educational seminars covering topics from successful marketing and profit making initiatives to market trends about the increase in demand for ethical and sustainable products.

But visitors were immediately drawn to the Craft Guild chefs’ demonstrations. These ranged from Sophie Wright’s demo of a posh lunchbox to Premier Food senior development chef Mark Rigby’s take on dishes for the ‘credit crunch conscious’.

The show also hosted the grand final of the Craft Baker of the Year competition, which Kelvin Davies of Chester based P&A Davies won. He walked away with a cheque for £1,000, while runner up Stuart Beatty from St Mary’s Bakery in Paignton, Devon, won a two day chocolate course at The Slattery School of Excellence in Manchester.

Event organiser Andy Pybus says he couldn’t be happier with the response from all sides of the industry. “OOH Live, with its unique perspective on the modern out of home consumer, clearly scored a bullseye with a broad spectrum of buyers. The feedback we have had from exhibitors has been extremely positive.”
