World's first 3D printed food café could become reality
SCOFF3D, set up by catering industry professional Martin Furze, would allow diners to sit at a smart table and order from a range of prints before watching it come to life.
The café would also become a reseller and supplier of 3D printers and provide a catering service for weddings and other special events.
In his pitch of crowdfunding website Kickstarter, Furze wrote: “These three services give an opportunity to develop and branch out further still but setting solid foundations and starting right is essential for a successful business. We are sure that this will prove to be an incredible journey and invite you to be with us every step of the way.
The initial menu would be tailored around novelty and first experience of 3D printed food, featuring cakes, cookies, muffins and pastries. The café would also serve a range of teas, coffees and soft drinks.
Furze would have a selection of pre-printed stock made fresh day by day for speed and convenience but also dedicated areas to ‘eat what you print’, providing a wider range of prints and options.
Furze has worked in the catering industry for over 14 years and has been managing public houses for more than eight.
