Warner Leisure announces winners of its annual culinary challenge

Written by: Admin
Now in its fourth year, Warner Leisure's annual culinary competition involving all 13 of its hotels and resorts saw finals for each category to determine the winner.
The event was hosted by Unilever Food Solutions at its business development kitchen in Leatherhead where teams had to prepare, cook and serve a three-course menu for three guests using a mystery box of ingredients. This was presented to a panel of Warner guests, the group's leadership team and a representative from the AA, who judged the food, table service and overall experience of the day. In both finals the competitors showed real passion for food, a desire to win and excellent table service with top meals prepared including lobster and mackerel with butternut squash purée, seafood risotto and chocolate mousse. Corton Village Coastal village took the honours in the resorts category with Warner's food development manager David Grindrod praising its "presentation, use of textures and selection of excellently chosen wine accompanying the meal". The Gunton Hall team won in the hotels category, its menu described by Grindrod as "well balanced and perfectly executed". "The flavours were delicious and the win was well-deserved," he added. The competition had four sets of heats, which were judged by Craft Guild vice chairman Christopher Basten, Unilever business development chef Paul Hawkins and David Grindrod.
