Following the success of the award’s launch in 2016, which aims to celebrate pub chefs and food across the country, the BBPA has once again teamed up with MPs to help champion the British pub trade and encourage young chefs into the industry.

Both of the two categories – the Pub Chef and Young Pub Chef – require MPs to vote for candidates in their constituency renowned for great pub food. The shortlisted finalists will then be chosen by a panel of judges, including TV guest chef presenter and former Michelin Star holder, Paul Merrett in December 2017, with the competition winner announced in January 2018.

BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds said: “With pubs serving around a billion meals each year it is important to recognise the contribution pub chefs make to the eating out experience in this country. The outstanding range of culinary options that span from breakfast to evening meals demonstrates the huge wealth of creativity and skill in our kitchens, big and small.”
