A poll conducted by private jet lifestyle publication, Elite Traveler, finds that eight UK restaurants are considered amongst the best as the Elite Traveler Top 100 Restaurants in the World list is published.

Five London restaurants can be found in the top 100, making it the third best city in the world behind New York (nine restaurants) and Paris (eight).

The London restaurants are: The Ledbury (12), Dinner By Heston Blumenthal (25), Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (32) and Amaya (92). Also, Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck in Berkshire, which relocated to Melbourne for six months in February, made it into the top five making it the best British restaurant.

Fat Duck chef, Jonny Lake, said: “This is just incredible news and an amazing achievement for the entire team at The Fat Duck. It's a great feeling to have been recognized by Elite Traveler’s readers as one of the top five restaurants and it means a lot to all of us. We are really grateful."

The number one spot on the prestigious countdown is claimed by Chicago’s Alinea, with Grant Achatz and his team coming out on top for a fourth consecutive year. The three-Michelin-starred destination offers an 18 to 22 course tasting menu and has been hailed as a bastion of modern progressive cooking.

This year the awards also saw Daniel Humm, Head Chef of Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad in New York, take the title of Chef of the Year ahead of Grant Achatz and Heston Blumenthal. Young Chef of the Year was won by Eneko Atxa from Spain’s Azurmendi, followed by Joshua Skenes of Saison and Sean Brock of Husk.

Now in its fourth consecutive year, Elite Traveler’s Top 100 Restaurants gives the magazine’s jetsetting readers the chance to vote for their favorite fine dining destinations across all seven continents.
