Ken Hom to host Chinese cuisine masterclass at Ulster University
He is the author of 37 books, which have helped to ‘inspire’ millions of chefs and home cooks around the world. The Culinary Salon allows guest chefs to work with students to prepare a dinner whilst also sharing stories about their career development and insights into the hospitality industry.
Speaking ahead of the event, he said: "I have always considered myself, first and foremost, an educator - so it's a real privilege to be working with students who will go on to shape our international hospitality industry. I'm also looking forward to be back in Northern Ireland and meeting the chefs and food writers who are forging its reputation as a leading gastronomic destination."
The event will raise funds for his chosen charity Action Against Hunger that aims to help people suffering from life-threatening hunger in 50 countries around the world. The visit by Ken Hom is made possible by the support of the Savoy Educational Trust.
Angela Maher, chief executive of the Savoy Educational Trust, added: “This unique programme enables students to interact with, and learn from, some of the best hospitality professionals in the world. It is wonderful to see how well connected the university is to industry and the importance they place on experiential learning within their courses.”
