International Chef of the Year awarded to Andreas Antona
The chef, who owns restaurants in Birmingham and Kenilworth, collected the award during a ceremony on October 27th in Lyon, France.
The annual awards are organized by les Torques Blanches Lyonnaises, a group of esteemed chefs from the region. Andreas collected the Trophée Gastronomique Internationale in front of more than 500 guests, including celebrated chefs of the French culinary scene.
Antona said: “It’s an honour to have accepted such an award among such well respected chefs. Birmingham has enjoyed a long-standing culinary relationship with Lyon, which I’m proud to have been part of. I’m absolutely delighted to be recognised as International Chef in this year’s awards.”
Antona co-founded Birmingham’s Pure Bar & Kitchen, as well as owning Simpsons, also in Birmingham and The Cross Kenilworth in Warwickshire.
The awards take place every year and are considered a highlight in the French calendar.
