Gordon Stott, head chef and landlord at The Sun Inn in Dummer, Hampshire, is a finalist in two regional competitions in recognition of his skills in the kitchen and achievements as a young entrepreneur.

Stott is shortlisted in the ‘Chef of the Year’ category at the Hampshire Life Food and Drink Awards, taking place on November 25th 2015 at the Elvetham Hotel, Hartley Wintney.

Now in its tenth year, the awards recognise the importance of the Hampshire food and drink industry. Nominations are made by readers of the regional magazine, published by Archant, and customers of the pub.

Stott, aged 24, is also a finalist in the Young Business Person of the Year category at the INSPIRE Business Awards 2015, thanks to the continued success of The Sun Inn, which has seen profits increase by 53% since he took over the pub in 2010 at the age of 20.

As one of the youngest people in the UK to hold the dual position of landlord and head chef, Stott feels honoured to be recognised for his achievements. He says: “The past 5 years have been non-stop while we’ve turned The Sun Inn into a foodie destination known for outstanding quality, inventive menus and a brilliant front of house team.

“The demand for regional produce is stronger than ever, and to know that so many of our customers are impressed enough to vote for us to win Chef of the Year, is really rewarding.”
