Former NCOTY winner Mark Sargeant to give school meal cooking demonstration at LACA Main Event

Former Craft Guild of Chefs National Chef of the Year and LACA Ambassador Mark Sargeant will lead a LACA Live session at the Main Event where he will give his spin on tasty, healthy and nutritious school meals.

There will be five LACA Live cooking demonstrations taking place at the Main Event in July, which is taking place at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole. The School Food Show is free-to-attend for school caterers, managers and contract caterers. 

The LACA Live schedule includes:

  • 12.15 (3rd July) Lentils.org: This session will demonstrate some burgers/sliders, meatballs and kofta, all popular easy to make dishes.
  • 13.15 (3rd July) Strong Roots Demo: The new plant-based range from McCain will be put through its paces as development chef Paul Murphy demonstrates its flexibility by producing healthy and nutritious school food standard compliant dishes. 
  • 12.00 (4th July) LACA Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge winner: Now in its second year, the winner of the 2024 Grab ‘N’ Go Challenge will be announced on Wednesday 3rd July and will demonstrate their winning dish on the LACA Live theatre on Thursday.
  • 12.45 (4th July) LACA ambassador Mark Sargeant: He will give his spin on tasty and nutritious meals for school customers.
  • 13.45 (4th July) Tilda and Veg Power: The third winner of the Tilda/VegPower Award will demonstrate some of the dishes they create in their schools each day to show they’re a worthy winner of this year’s award and inspire others.
