Famous UK chefs sign up to Hong Kong’s inaugural Great Festival of Innovation
Set to address “how we work, live, play and learn in the future and help further the UK’s role as a world leader in innovation and technology,” the four-day event will also encourage the international audience to “re-imagine” the future of food.
As each chef prepares to “rustle up a feast,” not only will they showcase their culinary expertise, but their knowledge and experience over a series of panel discussions and masterclasses.
Kerridge said: “We are very proud to be asked to be involved in the Great Festival of Innovation in Hong Kong with an opportunity to talk about, and showcase, Great Britain and British products and food on a world stage.
“As an eclectic and diverse country, food is a real show of our personality and I am very proud to be a part of the British food scene, shaking hands with the rest of the world.”
The festival comes as trade between the UK and Hong Kong increased by nearly 6% to £17.4 billion in 2016 – with the Food and Drink Federation claiming China is the “second most important market for the UK food industry outside the EU.”
Dr Liam Fox MP explained: “Securing the support of some of Britain’s well-known chefs is a huge boost for the country, as we promote quality British goods at the Great Festival of Innovation in Hong Kong later this month.
“Led by my international economic department, the festival will be a major showcase for the UK in Asia, and a shop window for the best of our creativity and innovation.
“The UK food scene is already one of the most dynamic and respected in the world – and the festival will put food and drink at the forefront as one of our greatest exports, as delivered by chefs who are some of our true national treasures.”
