Debrett names the most influential people in food & drink

A host of the food and drink industry’s biggest hitters have been named in the Debrett 500 most influential people in Britain today.

Chefs Simon Rogan, Heston Blumenthal, Jamie Oliver and Jason Atherton were featured, alongside Tom Kerridge, Angela Hartnett and Nuno Mendes.

Hartnett is described as ‘one of the most high-profile women in the restaurant world’, whilst Blumenthal is named a ‘culinary trickster’ and a ‘proud proponent of molecular gastronomy’.

Restrauteurs Yotam Ottolenghi, Alan Yau and Russell Norman were included in the prestigious list, alongside MeatLiquor founders Scott Collins and Yianni Papoutsis.

Brewdog founders Martin Dickie and James Watt, critics A A Gill and Marina O’Loughlin, Caprice Holdings owner Richard Caring, Fortnum and Mason chief executive Ewan Venters, wine expert Olly Smith, food writer and TV chef Mary Berry, and bar owner and co-founder of Street Feast Jonathan Downey complete the list.

The annual Debrett’s 500 list covers 24 categories across society politics, food, sport and business.
