Craft Guild of Chefs Cricket & Family Fun Day is a hit with members
Family and friends of the Craft Guild had gathered for a day of cricket and fun at Blackwater & Hawley Leisure Centre in Camberley in Surrey, where both teams were as determined as those at the Oval to show their talents, and to make sure they got down to hitting the ball and getting some wickets.
Both sides played an excellent game, with Craft Guild chairman Christopher Basten entering into the spirit of things. He said: “I arrived to enjoy the fun, the glorious weather and the food, and ended up bowling cricket balls at people. It was great.”
Halftime saw everyone participating in a traditional cricket afternoon tea, while during the match the bouncy castle was well used by younger attendees, who played with their gliders, frisbees, blew bubbles, splatted the rat and played quoits.
After the match, an excellent barbecue was cooked and served by Craft Guild member and McCormick development chef Steve Love.
The day ended with Craft Guild vice president Steve Scuffell presenting the trophy to Raj Mandal, who received it on behalf of the Bedford College team.
Now in its 10th year, 60 people attended the cricket day organised by Scuffell and the social events team. Supporters of the event included Reynolds, Premier Foods and Fairfax Meadow.
