Craft Guild of Chefs AGM Honours & Awards 2014
These were presented by Craft Guild chairman Christopher Basten, Vice Presidents’ Council (VPC) chairman Stephen Scuffell and the recently appointed president of the Craft Guild of Chefs, Vice Admiral Tony Johnstone-Burt, who was making his inaugural appearance at the awards presentation.
This year Scuffell announced that John Retallick, former VPC chairman, as the worthy recipient of the council’s Special Achievement Award in recognition of all his achievements in promoting the aims and objectives of the Craft Guild.
Scuffell also announced new award categories – one to recognise rising stars who have been noticed by the Guild as someone in the industry to help develop their talent, and the other to recognise the ‘local heroes’ who have worked tirelessly for the Guild but remain unsung heroes.
Another was the national hero award for a person who had worked tirelessly over a long period of time to promote the Guild and its ethics. This was awarded to Craft Guild vice president Robert William Kendrew.
