Craft Guild CEO becomes Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Cooks
The Worshipful Company of Cooks strive to champion excellence in the craft of cooking whilst offering support and assistance in education and training, particularly for young people.
Green has been chief executive of the Craft Guild of Chefs since 2015, and has previously held the position of treasurer, chairman, and vice chairman of the organisation.
He commented: “It’s an absolute honour to be asked to join this prestigious organisation. I’ve worked closely with them throughout my career and this step will only serve to bring us all closer together.”
New members must be proposed and seconded by two members of the Livery. Every member must donate time, effort, expertise or support to the Worship Company of Cooks Charity, in order to help the Company achieve its aims and ambitions.
Past Master Marcus Appleton of the Worshipful Company of Cooks added: “We are always looking to explore further the mystery of cooking. Andrew Green was an obvious choice to admit as a Freeman.
“Not only due to his role as chief executive of the Craft Guild of Chefs but due to his sheer wealth of industry experience and knowledge, and his enduring passion to share his expertise. I’ve known him personally since 2018, but our relationship with the Craft Guild of Chefs goes even further back than that. It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome him to the livery.”
Since joining the Craft Guild of Chefs, Green has led a successful ‘seismic shift’ in the company’s focus, which has bought the organisation to its strongest financial position since inception. He continues to provide the industry and chefs a clear voice, and his efforts have been rewarded with substantial growth in membership for the Craft Guild of Chefs.
