Craft Guild celebrates another successful Golf Day

Written by: Katie Imms
The Craft Guild of Chefs held its 2018 Golf Day last week (10 May), in what can only be described as yet another highly successful, nail-bitingly tense event.

Hosted by committee member Alan Paton, the annual event this year took place at Stoke by Nayland (Essex), where 46 eager golfers tee’d off for their chance of winning one of four prizes.

As well as team and individual score prizes, Craft Guild operations manager, Andrew Green, crowned the longest drive and ‘nearest the pin,’ during the evening’s presentation dinner.

Winners were as below:

  • Longest Drive - Darren Edwards
  • Nearest the Pin - Darren Edwards
  • Team Winners - Major International
  • Team Runners Up - Essential Cuisine

Then there was the yearly Mike Sullivan trophy award which, for the first time in four years, went to the British Culinary Federation (BCF) after beating the Craft Guild for the title.

Following an incredibly tough, 18-hole course, our hungry competitors headed to the evening’s five-course presentation dinner, which was specially created by executive chef and host, Alan Paton.

With four guest chefs in the kitchen and the help of students from Colchester Institute, chefs Matt Wilby, Chris Lee, James Carn and Lee Cooper all prepared one dish each - and diners left suitably full after another fun-filled event.
