Chef Tom Kerridge to host dinner to support Wreckfish restaurant Kickstarter campaign

Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge will host a six course dinner for the launch of restaurant-to-be Wreckfish, Liverpool in support of the Kickstarter campaign launched by chef Gary Usher, who aims to raise £200,000 to open the restaurant in October.

Tickets for the dinner, sold via the Kickstarter campaign at £150 per head, sold the 74 places on offer within 15 minutes, raising over £11,000.

Usher said: “The support we have received for Wreckfish has been incredible, not only from people who know us, but from the entire industry. I can’t believe that Michelin starred chefs are offering to cook for us just so we can make Wreckfish a reality.

“Tom Kerridge coming to cook in our bistro that hasn’t even opened yet is a huge thing for us and the whole region. I honestly can’t think of a better way to launch the restaurant.”

Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer has also offered support by offering the highest bidder the chance to watch the TV programme to be filmed, which raised £2,000 for the Kickstarter fund.

Usher launched the campaign on May 2nd and the total raised has reached £135,000.
