Written by: Katie Imms
Bocuse d’Or has announced the 20 countries competing in the European selection round this June (11-12) - fighting for their place in the 2019 finale.

Taking place in Turin (Italy) this summer, the event is the last chance for the European candidates to impress judges and secure their place in the final.

Competing countries are as below:

  • Poland
  • Belgium
  • Iceland
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Netherland
  • Spain
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • France
  • Russia
  • Sweden
  • Croatia
  • Finland
  • Denmark
  • Norway
  • Italy
  • Bulgaria
  • Estonia
  • Turkey

With just 5 hours and 35 minutes to demonstrate their skills in the two tests - theme on a plate and theme on a platter - contestants must use compulsory products for both, which this year come from Piedmont (Italy) to highlight the country/region where the event takes place.

Products for theme on a plate are yet to be announced, while the platter have been revealed as:

  • Male Beef fillet of Fassona Piemontese pedigree
  • Baraggia Biellese and Vercellese Rice, Sant’Andrea variety
  • Calf sweetbread

Each chef must also add their own personal touch and country heritage to each of their dishes, and celebrate excellence and creativity “in honor of the chef and founder of the competition, Paul Bocuse.”
