3D-printed food concept to pop-up in London
Food Ink, a Netherlands-based company is due to pop-up at Old Truman Brewery from 25-27 July, in the hope that 3D-printed food can be seen as more than just a culinary gimmick.
The company is teaming up with Spanish chef Mateo Blanch of Michelin-starred restaurant La Boscana in Spain for the pop-up and will create a nine-course menu expected to feature the likes of air caviar, fish and chips, ‘mystic prawns’ and steak tartars.
The restaurant itself will also be filled with 3D-printed chairs, tables and lamps and the pop-up will also feature a team of cooks, artists and technologists.
The pop-up is on a worldwide tour to try and get backers to fund it so it becomes a viable business opportunity. The company ultimately aims to create a chain of permanent Food Ink restaurants through the backing of investors and those in the culinary industry.
