Oliver Kay is a wholesale greengrocers offering its service UK-wide. The company was established over 27 years ago, and offers nationwide delivery daily. It works with a wide range of customers, from hotels and restaurants to education centres and sports stadiums.
After leaving school, Oliver Kay founded a business selling high quality, fresh, seasonal produce from a small warehouse in Bolton. His vision was simple; to supply the very best produce from around the world to chef’s in hotels and restaurants across the UK.
Over the years, Oliver built up a fantastic team of passionate people to help deliver his vision, and we are proud to say that we now work with some of the best growers around the world.
Oliver Kay operates from two main hubs - the original being in Bolton from its BRC A-grade accredited site. It recently invested in fantastic new premises in Wednesbury (Midland’s), allowing it to better service the Midlands and the south. The company also has a unit in London, along with service throughout Scotland via its partner company, Campbell Brothers Produce (just outside Edinburgh.)
Oliver Kay has a fleet of over 100, temperature-controlled vehicles, delivering to customers daily.
Oliver Kay has an extensive product range including:
- Fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables
- Eggs & Dairy goods – a wide range of cheeses, butter and milk
- Dry Store goods including tinned goods, oils, sauces, seasonings, chocolate etc, and a great range of breads
- Foraged items and a Gastronomic range including products from SOSA
- Oliver Kay works with customers to develop new products and source products to suit their needs.
Oliver Kay talks to its suppliers daily in order to source the best products as soon as they come into season. This means that customers get the best product at its freshest. The close relationship with farmers - many of whom have grown alongside Oliver Kay - gives it access to the best of their crop at their very best prices. Suppliers are an integral part of the Oliver Kay business, not only do they ensure continuity of supply, they help with the needs of customers and are happy to look into developing new products or ideas.
Oliver Kay opened its fantastic new development kitchen in Bolton at the end of 2017. This facility is available for customers to use, as its its very own development chef -Laurence Tottingham - who can work with customers on new menu ideas etc. It also holds regular training and development days, linking up with suppliers and partner companies.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT & ORDERING
All customers are allocated Account Managers as a direct port of call to deal with any issues or requests promptly and efficiently. Oliver Kay's customer service team is available to take orders 6 days a week, with an integrated answerphone system for out of hours ordering. Orders can be placed by telephone, email, online ordering using the website or app or alternatively, the company offers EDI ordering - linking up with most ordering platforms.
Oliver Kay operates a day 1 for day 2 delivery service, with last orders for next day delivery at 23:00 & 14:00 for prepped items.
SUPPORT & INFORMATION
Oliver Kay’s buying team works closely with its suppliers and are able to offer customers visits to farms. Tours of the warehouse are also available for customers to see the fantastic range of products and produce available.
Working with its buyers and growers, Oliver Kay compiles concise and informative Crop Reports each month, to help you make the most of the produce coming into season. If there’s a shortage, whether through crop failure or seasonal availability, the company will keep you in the loop and ensure you know which products should be on your menu throughout the year.
Oliver Kay also offers seasonality charts, allergen and nutritional information, new product information and recipe suggestions directly or via the website and social media accounts.
