What's cooking at River Cottage
Tim Maddams, head chef of the River Cottage Canteen in Devon, will be launching a nine day Tastefair event later this month where he will host a special session on seasonal food, discussing what's in season now and how best to prepare it.
The event, which will be kicking off during Fairtrade Fortnight at Whole Foods Market in London, will see Maddams prepare a selection of seasonal tasting samples from his restaurant and provide advice on how to become attuned to the seasons. He will also talk about his passion for food and first-hand experience working as one of the most successful chefs in the country.
TasteFair has everything for coffee lovers, people interested in eco-design, gardening or anyone just looking for a place to chill-out. It will run from Saturday 21st February – Sunday 1st March.
Highlights of the event will include top tips on growing your own food from BBC Gardener's World expert, Joe Swift, barista skills mini-masterclasses, seed to cup' sessions and hands-on roasting of gourmet Arabica coffee beans direct, as well as a screening of Black Gold, hosted by producer and film maker Nick Francis.
Tickets for Maddams session cost £5 in advance, and can be purchased online at www.tastefair.co.uk. Proceeds from these ticket sales will go towards helping the Coocafé coffee co-operative and its growers in Costa Rica rebuild their business as they recently suffered severe damage to their crops following a major earthquake in January this year.
