Raising the culinary game
The Ivy House Dining Room & Bar in Tonbridge has opened its doors following a £150,000 facelift.
Supporting local suppliers, the restaurant's new menu focuses on locally sourced seasonal produce including Whitstable seafood, Romney Marsh lamb and Wingham rare breed pork. General Manager Daniel Ward said that supporting and serving local produce is what they do best: "Quality local ingredients are at the heart of our ethos and there is an abundance of fantastic food producers in Kent – from vegetables to meat, dairy products and, of course, the fruits of the sea. Around 90% of the ingredients used in our kitchen will be from Kent suppliers." The establishment is the latest addition to the Kent Inns of Distinction portfolio where celebrity chef, John Burton Race, has this year been appointed as head of group development. The Kent Inns of Distinction collection also includes The Dog Inn at Wingham, The Blazing Donkey at Sandwich and Harveys Fish Market and Oyster Bar in Ramsgate.
