UK chef Stefano Corrias took home second place at service provider Aramark's 2018 European Chef’s Cup competition held in Barcelona. The competition, now in its third year, saw seven professional chefs go head to head.

Lawrence Shirazian, managing director Aramark Food Services UK, said: “The food produced at this competition was of an extremely high standard. It was great to see Stefano doing an amazing job, demonstrating creativity and flair.

“He represented the UK in an extremely professional manner and his win reflects the creativity and flair he brings to client dining in JP Morgan every day.”

Some of the best culinary talent on the continent competed, from countries such as Ireland, Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium / Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Denmark and Spain.

Each of the chefs had to create a three-course menu from a pre-selected shopping basket.

All candidates had four hours to complete and present their dishes. The judges included Carlos Fernández, chef from Martin Berasategui’s Team; Luca Rodi, 2015 Top Chef Finalist; and Óscar Teixidó, Culinary Coordinator at the School of Hospitality, Barcelona (CETT).

Irish chef David Joyce was crowned winner of the competition in the RCDE Stadium, while Spanish chef, Javier Artero, achieved third place.

Stefano, originally from Italy, moved to London in 1998 to study catering at Richmond Upon Thames College. He was inspired by famous chefs such as Michel Roux and Giorgio Locatelli.

After ten years working in fine dining restaurants, Stefano joined Aramark at JP Morgan, Victoria Embankment where he now works as a sous chef in client dining.
