Established in 1965 as a Guild of the Cookery and Food Association, the Craft Guild of Chefs has developed into the leading Chefs’ Association in the UK and has many members worldwide.

Now in their 19th year, the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards have become the chef’s ‘Oscars’, and the coveted accolades recognise and reward the leading talent working in kitchens all across the industry.

The Craft Guild of Chefs Spring Ball returns with a wow

The revival of the Craft Guild of Chefs Spring Ball held on Sunday, May 6, proved to be a roaring success, giving chefs across the country the chance to enjoy a rare night off with friends, families and colleagues – so much so that the Craft Guild’s social committee is already planning next year’s event.

Chefs gathered at the Crown Moran Hotel in London for a delicious six-course meal cooked by the Guild's members, Stephen Scuffell and Dennis Mwakulua, and the hotel's brigade. The menu included steamed Alaskan salmon, braised Welsh lamb, and orange and ripple ice cream with raspberry honeycomb dust for dessert.

Craft Guild of Chefs National Chef of the Year 2012 semi finalists announced

Forty chefs are now in the running to walk away with the prestigious title of the Craft Guild of Chefs’ National Chef of the Year 2012 after being announced as semi finalists in this year’s competition.

Hailing from a diverse mix of foodservice sectors, the line up is now gearing up for the penultimate round of the top competition for chefs in the UK.

Four semi finals will take place at two of the UK's best culinary training centres, Sheffield City College on June 19 and London's Westminster Kingsway College on June 26.

Eton College chef wins the UK NZ Culinary Challenge

Louisa Matthews, a 20 year old chef working at Eton College in Windsor for Sodexo, has won the prestigious UK NZ Culinary Challenge, along with the top prize of a three-week study trip to New Zealand, comprised of work placements in top restaurants and an opportunity to visit award winning vineyards and suppliers.

At the cook off at Westminster Kingsway College, the finalists had to produce a gourmet menu in two hours using British seafood in the starter, loin of New Zealand venison in the main, and Comvita manuka honey and Bramley apples in the dessert.
