Wallace and Gromit’s ‘grand day out’ in Herts schools

Written by: Admin

Hertfordshire County Council has joined up with Wallace and Gromit and Pasta King to launch a new charity fundraising initiative at primary schools across the county - the more children who have special meals, the more money Pasta King will donate to charity.

Every third Thursday in the month, your local county council's Good School Food Team from Hertfordshire Catering will be holding special Wallace and Gromit lunches in schools across the county. £1 for every case of pasta sauce used will be donated by Pasta King to Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation.

On Monday 19 March, Wallace and Gromit visited Andrews Lane Primary School, Waltham Cross to launch the new fundraising initiative between Hertfordshire County Council, Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation and award winning food-service supplier Pasta King.

Terry Douris, Deputy Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "This initiative with Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation and Pasta King is the perfect opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause, as well as promote healthy eating in our schools. By eating these nutritious pasta meals we hope our pupils will - thanks to Pasta King's generosity - be able to help raise a significant amount of money for this children's charity."

Guy Truman, Sales and Marketing Director at Pasta King, commented: “We have always been confident that there is a strong synergy between the primary school sector of our business and the children who the Foundation is endeavouring to help. Hertfordshire County Council is another of Pasta King’s public sector clients to launch this initiative.”

Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation is a UK wide charity championing the cause for sick children by raising funds to improve the quality of life of children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. The Foundation funds an innovative range of projects to ensure sick children have access to the very best comforts, facilities and equipment giving them a better, brighter future.
