Vegetarian Society launches Christmas recipe collection

Written by: Edward Waddell
The Vegetarian Society has launched its Christmas recipe collection designed to ‘shake up’ Christmas tastes.

Throughout 2019 veggie and vegan products have ‘dominated the headlines’ as vegan and veggie food has become more popular. There are a growing number of ‘flexitarians’ who enjoy meat and dairy but they want to reduce their consumption.

The Vegetarian Society, established in 1847, aims to ‘influence, inspire and support’ people who embrace and maintain a vegetarian diet.

The Vegetarian Society Christmas menu includes kale, chestnut and mushroom bonbons with cherry sauce.

The Christmas main course is a whole roasted cauliflower with broccoli and walnut stuffing and grilled brassica leaves is on the menu, along with roasted potatoes and all the trimmings. If spice interests you, try paprika jackfruit with crushed winter vegetables; Brussels sprout leaves and vegetable crisps.

Brussels sprouts are an ‘essential’ part of Christmas, love them or hate them, so the Vegetarian Society have created a Brussels sprout pakora with sesame dipping sauce.

The Christmas recipe includes a range of desserts including: pomegranate cheesecake topped with ruby-red pomegranate seeds, pistachio panna cotta, elderflower cream and white chocolate crumb and a chocolate ravioli with mince pie filling served with a chocolate sauce.
