Top chefs launch pop-up restaurant in time for Sheffield Food Festival

Written by: Admin
Chefs from The Milestone gastropub in Sheffield will be running a pop-up restaurant in Fargate as part of the city’s forthcoming food festival.
The Milestone currently has two bars in Sheffield – the original in Kelham Island, which was crowned Gordon Ramsay's best British restaurant, and The Milestone at the Wig and Pen, which opened in Campo Lane six months ago. Running from Sunday, July 3, to Sunday, July 10, the pop-up restaurant will feature three different strands – a formal restaurant, a bar and canteen and a summer barbecue. Co-owner of The Milestone, Matt Bigland, said: "We're putting even more into this year's food festival and really pushing the boat out in terms of our food and drink offering. "We're excited to be collaborating with other businesses and showcasing menus from the Wig and Pen and The Milestone with our taster evenings, plus the pop-up cinema and chef demos will make our programme interactive and entertaining for everyone." Special events being held include a "Sunday Feast", a pop-up cinema, a charity dinner and a closing party. From Monday to Thursday the team from The Milestone will also be joined in the bar by chefs from East and West restaurant in London Road, who will be showcasing their authentic South Indian cuisine and challenging diners' perceptions of curry. In addition, the Campaign for Real Ale will be running a real ale tent and there will also be brewery tours and "ale trails", designed to guide visitors around Sheffield's best pubs. The Sheffield Food Festival hopes to involve more than 100 organisations and attract around 40,000 visitors over the course of the week.
