Subway stores host Helping Hearts Family 5K events

Written by: Admin
Subway stores have announced they are hosting a series of Helping Hearts Family 5K events throughout the UK in 2013.

The first of six fundraising runs will take place on Sunday 9th June, where hundreds of families will take part to raise money for Heart Research UK which will be awarded back into their local area through healthy heart grants. The first race will take place in Roundhay Park, Leeds before touring the UK and heading to Belfast, Cardiff, Maidstone, Manchester and Lanarkshire.

Ian Dawes, who owns two stores in Leeds, will also be taking part in the fun run, something he has never done before. “As a very inexperienced runner I thought this would be something fun to do to help raise money for such an important charity.”

The Leeds event will also see elite Gymnast and TV personality Louis Smith MBE take part in the race launch and he will also be appearing for photos and autographs. Smith is an ambassador for the Subway brand as well as appearing in several of their adverts over the last few years.

The events are free for children and £5.99 for adults, with all sponsorship funds raised going towards the Heart Research UK and Subway Healthy Heart Grant scheme which provides financial support to local community groups. Money raised at each fun run will be used to support communities in your area to encourage everyone, young to old, to lead healthier heart lifestyles.

Hundreds of runners will be making their way around six great courses, and family and friends are welcome to come along and cheer on their loved ones on the day.
