Sodexo chef Louisa-May Matthews has been selected as one of 34 young people to represent Team UK at this year's WorldSkills event in Liepzig, Germany.

WorldSkills is the largest international skills competition and occurs every two years in cities all over the world. The competition sees 1,000 young people, aged between 18 and 25, compete for medals in more than 40 different skill categories, ranging from bricklaying and landscaping to electrical installation and cooking. Matthews, who works at Eton College as a demi chef de partie, will be aiming for gold in the cooking category and is no stranger to competition. Over the last year she has had many successes including winning the Craft Guild of Chefs' UK-NZ Link competition and Young Masterchefs of Great Britain 2012. Matthews mentor and executive head chef at Eton College, Michael Godfrey, said: "Louisa's career is really starting to take off and her competition success has helped her to develop some outstanding skills in the kitchen. Louisa is a talented and committed chef and we are all very proud of her achievements."
