The North West regional final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2014, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been won by Debbie Sidlow, who works at Moston Fields Primary School.

Employed by Manchester City Council, she will now go forward to the final at the Defence Foodservices School, Worthy Down in Hampshire on May 21st.

At the Moston Campus of Manchester College on February 7th, her winning dishes were a main course of Lancashire hotpot with a cultural twist (lamb hotpot with asian potatoes, carrot noodles and fruity cabbage) followed for dessert by ‘a modern take on Manchester tart’ (coconut and cardamom crème brulee topped with raspberries, served with banana and tuile biscuits).

The highly commended main course award went to Stephen Gordon, who works at Meadowbank Primary School for Solutions SK on behalf of Stockport Metropolitcan Borough Council.

He served Morrocan chicken and black bean rice along with salsa and a yoghurt dip.
