Restaurants sign up to StreetSmart to tackle homelessness

Written by: Admin
Over 500 restaurants across the UK, including Bocca di Lupo and Tredwells, have teamed up with homeless charity StreetSmart.

Between 1st November and 31st December 2015, the restaurants will ask diners to donate £1 per table at the end of their meal to help change the lives of homeless people nearby.

So far, the charity has raised £7.4 million since its inception in 1998 and all of the money goes directly to helping projects fighting homelessness.

This year, new restaurants joining the campaign include Tredwells, The Blues Kitchen and The Botanist.

StreetSmart is supported by Deutsche Bank as part of its Born to Be youth engagement programme.

Recent figures show around 80,000 young people aged between 16-25 currently experience homelessness, whilst the whole number of homeless people grows year-on-year, doubling in the past five years and increasing 77% in London.
