Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, which comprises Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, said it was delighted that Dr Patiar’s contribution to the hospitality and education sectors has been recognised in Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday honours list.

“His contribution over 40 years as lecturer and then as director at Coleg Llandrillo has been outstanding, steering both national and international developments in hospitality,” said a college spokesman.

“He has helped to shape the careers and aspirations of many thousands of young people with his encouragement and enthusiasm. His drive for the achievement of high skills levels and standards for his students and himself have resulted in numerous national and international awards and accolades.

“In recent years, his contribution as a consultant has seen him establish the college’s reputation across the world, including making a significant contribution to the WorldSkills initiative.”
