National Chef of the Year 2017 releases debut cookbook

Written by: Katie Imms
As part of his winning prize, Craft Guild of Chef’s (CGOC) National Chef of the Year 2017, James Devine, has launched his first cookbook ‘From my kitchen to yours.'

He said: “From the ultimate grown-up sausage roll to new twists on the classic Irish desserts I grew up on, every recipe in this book is special to me. Not least of all, the rib of beef that won me National Chef of the Year 2017.

“Making this book has been the most incredible experience. My thanks go to everyone who’s helped it become a reality and everyone who’s supported me along the way,” including the book’s sponsor, KNORR.

CGOC vice president, David Mulcahy, added: “It’s a brave thing for any chef to put their skill and creativity under such scrutiny as the National Chef of the Year competition. James has showed he has what it takes – following in the footsteps of some great chefs of our time. This cook book is testament to that.”

Alex Hall, executive chef for Unilever Food Solutions, who has backed the book as part of its sponsorship of the competition, said: “Having your own recipe book in kitchens across the country is something every chef aspires to, but few are able to achieve. It’s been a real pleasure to work with James and make that aspiration a reality. He’s a great chef and his passion and personality come through in every page.”

A limited number of copies are available in print, as well as a digital version that can be downloaded via https://www.unileverfoodsolutions.co.uk/chef-inspiration/from-chefs-for-chefs/james-devine-cook-book.html.
