Macdonald restaurants to offer RSPCA accredited sausages on menus

Written by: Admin
Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has announced it is now serving higher welfare sausages from RSPCA Freedom Food approved farms.
The aim is to boost its food quality credentials across the group's award winning restaurants. The first hotel group to join the scheme, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts now features Freedom Food sausages on its breakfast menu, along with customer information about their provenance. Alan Swinson, catering director at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: "We are very proud to be the first hotel group in the UK to be associated with such a well respected higher welfare scheme. "We recognise our customers are becoming increasingly aware of the provenance of the food they are being served, so we couldn't think of a better way to assure diners that our food has a guaranteed seal of approval. By giving our menu such a welfare credential we can provide guests with peace of mind." Leigh Grant, Freedom Food's chief executive officer, added: "We are delighted that Macdonald Hotels & Resorts have made this move. The success of Freedom Food in retail has led to people becoming more aware of the provenance of food when they eat out too. "Consumers want to know that the food they are eating has come from a farm where the animals have been properly cared for and Freedom Food gives them that assurance. We look forward to working further with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts and hope more Freedom Food products will be introduced to menus across the group." Award winning pork producer - and Freedom Food member - Anna's Happy Trotters, provides all hotels with its premium sausage.
