Liverpool ONE launches UK’s first asparagus pop-up restaurant

Asparagus Patch, the UK's first pop-up asparagus restaurant, has opened in Liverpool ONE to coincide with the British asparagus season.

Situated on Liverpool ONE's Manesty's Lane, between John Lewis and Beauty Bazaar Harvey Nichols, the 1,755 sq ft store is open until 21st June.

Asparagus Patch showcases local produce while offering a menu with various fresh takes on the vegetable.

Commenting on the store’s opening, Miles Dunnett, head of asset management, Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, said: “Asparagus Patch at Liverpool ONE’s is the first restaurant of its kind in the country, and the team from Claremont Farm has created a truly special experience.”

All of the asparagus is produced at Claremont Farm in Wirral, which provides asparagus for restaurants and homes across the country. Wirral is recognised as an optimal location in which to grow the vegetable, due to the peninsula’s microclimate, sandstone ridge and close proximity to the coast.

Liverpool ONE worked with Andrew Pimbley, the farm’s managing director, to create a purpose-designed space in which visitors can experience the local produce.

Pimbley said: “We’re absolutely delighted to get this opportunity to showcase the versatility of British asparagus to Liverpool ONE’s visitors. As well as tasting delicious, people recognise the importance of supporting local produce more than ever before. I’d like to thank Liverpool ONE for giving us this space for the entirety of the British asparagus season; it promises to be an exciting six weeks.”
