The hospitality industry gears up for National Apprenticeship Week

Written by: Admin
The Hospitality Guild has joined with partners including People 1st, PACE, the Academy of Culinary Arts and the Institute of Hospitality to deliver a range of events and activities during National Apprenticeship Week, 11-15 March as part of its Act NOW! campaign.

The events will be held throughout England and will include a variety of interactive workshops, seminars, employer surgeries, and online activities.

Suzy Jackson, executive director of the Hospitality Guild, said that the events being held during National Apprenticeship Week were designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences.

“We know apprenticeships make a fantastic contribution to businesses in our sector, and research has shown that four in ten employers find apprentices far more productive than hiring new staff, while 49% say they made them more competitive.

“Learners stand to gain too with amazing career development opportunity and a chance to earn while they are getting trained to the standard the employer needs.

“This is why we’ve worked with our partners to come up with a wide range of activities during National Apprenticeship Week to give employers, providers and individuals practical advice on apprenticeships – whether they are new to the concept or already offering them.

Other activities have also been developed and will see the Hospitality Guild work with People 1st and employers to offer interactive online sessions and demonstrations, including an online Q&A session on Twitter.

Representatives from the Hospitality Guild and its partner organisations will also be taking part in activities to promote apprenticeships within the hospitality industry including; a Twitter Q&A session on quality apprenticeship delivery; an overview of using the Apprenticeship Certificates England (ACE) system; an event highlighting the benefits of pre-employment training; and an employer and provider briefing to introduce the sector’s new online portal.
