Simon Merrick has been appointed director of Peterborough-based Hobart Cooking Solutions, taking over from Ian Garner who retired recently from his role as managing director.

In his new role, Merrick will be responsible for developing the success of the company’s leading portfolio of brands including Bonnet, MBM, ELRO and Wolf.

Merrick has joined Hobart from Manitowoc Foodservice, a manufacturer and supplier of professional kitchen equipment, where he was sales director, responsible for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.

Before that, he worked for Merrychef, part of the Manitowoc group, for almost eight years, where most recently, he had been business development director UK & Ireland. He joined Merrychef in 2002 as key account manager, responsible for sales and overall account management of major selected multiple accounts.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined such a major kitchen equipment company as Hobart and am looking forward to working with my new team to address the challenges ahead. My initial focus will be on maintaining the growth of the cooking business and building on Hobart’s unrivalled reputation among caterers for technological development, product innovation and equipment quality.”
