French artisan bakery and patisserie, PAUL, has unveiled the arrival of a new brand extension – its first all-day casual dining restaurant in London.

Le Restaurant de PAUL will open on what was a PAUL bakery and salon de thé on Bedford Street, Covent Garden having undergone an extensive renovation.

The new all-day 65-cover casual dining restaurant will launch on 15th July.  Designed by Lille-based Panétude, the site will retain many of its original architectural features such as the wooden ceilings, wainscoting, parquet flooring whilst new furniture includes distressed black-stained chairs, bench and bar stool seating; industrial style wall lamps and chandeliers to create an intimate yet stylish French dining environment.

Open all day, from breakfast through to dinner, with an average spend of £18 per head, Le Restaurant de PAUL will introduce classic French dishes such as Coq au Vin – marinated and braised in red wine sauce served with buttery mash; Entrecôte á la Bordelaise (200g) – 7oz Sirloin steak served with French fries and choice of Béarnaise or Bordelaise sauce; Blanquette de Veau á L’Ancienne – flank calves with potatoes, carrots, celery and grilled field mushrooms and Confit de Canard aux Olives – slow cooked duck leg with crushed potatoes, black olive and red wine sauce.

New breakfast/brunch dishes include Les Criques de Gramat – potato cakes with ham and Emmental cheese served with Provençale tomatoes, topped with a free-range fried egg; Brioche Perdue – French toast with crème anglaise and Oeufs á la Coque – ‘boiled eggs & soldiers’.

Also on offer will be the PAUL signature range of breads, patisserie and gourmet salads and sandwiches whilst the wine list features a concise list of regional French bins from small artisan winemakers.

Maxime Holder, chairman, PAUL Group commented: “This is a very exciting time for PAUL.  PAUL has a strong brand identity based on fifth generation core family principles and the new restaurant will embody this spirit. Le Restaurant de Paul will offer a great value and genuine French dining experience.”
