Written by: James Callery
The shortlist for this year's Food Made Good Awards has been released with a diverse mix of nominees, consisting of small and big businesses, featured in the 17 categories.

Shortlisted businesses include Gourmet Goat- a street food stall in Borough Market, Pizza Hut, Jamie’s Italian, The Breakfast Club and the current independent fish and chip shop of the year, Kingfisher, in Plymouth.

The awards are run by The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) and aim to celebrate British hospitality businesses, chefs and suppliers.

SRA president Raymond Blanc, who is curating the lunch at the ceremony, said: “The Food Made Good Awards are so critical, recognising the work and commitment of individuals and organisations responsible for bringing new ethics to our food production, and sharing those values in our kitchens and with consumers.

“The awards truly remind us why we are so proud to work in this industry. Food and its production touches every part of our lives; it will define the society and communities of tomorrow, as well as our health and the health of the planet.

Categories include the Treat Staff Fairly award, Celebrate Local award, the People’s Favourite Restaurant award and the Food Made Good Business of the Year, given to the company who were the ‘best in the business’ and ‘excelling across the board’.

New awards for this year’s event include the Good To Go award and the Open Right award which will be presented to the business which has opened a site in the last 18 months with 'sustainability built in'.
