Final chance to become the hospitality industry’s Gold Service Scholar 2015

Written by: Admin
Young hospitality professionals have one week left to enter the Gold Service Scholarship competition, which seeks to find the new rising talent within the service industry.

Now in its third year, the scholarship is accepting entries until October 10 from 22 to 30-year-olds working in the UK in any aspect of restaurant service, including hotels, high street restaurants, fine dining, contract catering, licensed hospitality and clubs.

The competition will award the future stars of front of house service with a year of dedicated mentoring and training from industry leaders such as Michel Roux Jnr, Silvano Giraldin, Sergio Rebecchi and Fred Sirieix.

Hospitality leaders will reunite for year three of the competition, including Willy Bauer, chairman of AB Hotels and founder of the scholarship; Edward Griffiths, deputy master of the Royal Household at Buckingham Palace; and Alastair Storey, chairman of independent corporate restaurateur, BaxterStorey, which is the lead sponsor.

Storey said: “The Gold Service Scholarship is devoted to showcasing the unsung heroes of the hospitality industry in order to encourage more budding talent to consider a career in service. I urge young professionals to make the most of the incredible and unrivalled opportunities for development that the scholarship can provide them.”

The competition is made up of three parts: an initial online test comprising multiple-choice questions and simple photo analysis; a regional heat where shortlisted competitors will be asked to perform basic service tasks and a question and answer session with the judges, and the national final at The Connaught in Mayfair on February 2 2015.

The winner will be announced at a high-profile awards ceremony on February 9 2015 at Claridge’s.
