Ferran Adrià “impressed” by Westminster Kingsway College and Britain's future chefs

Written by: Admin
One of the world's most renowned chefs has visited Westminster Kingsway College to help Britain's young chefs think creatively about culinary innovation.
elBulli's Ferran Adrià took the time to visit the London catering college and experienced the newly-opened Culinary Science & Molecular Gastronomy Laboratory – the only facility of its kind in the UK - attending a demonstration by students. Since closing the doors of his acclaimed restaurant, Adriá has dedicated his time to inspiring innovation. In partnership with Telefónica, Adriá has created elBulli Foundation – a centre aimed at helping aspiring chefs reach new ways of thinking. Adriá said: "Westminster Kingsway College has impressed me with the high level of learning and the industry standard equipment in the kitchens. I want to encourage the students to keep working hard to achieve their dreams in the industry. It is always a great pleasure to meet and speak with young people who dare to dream big. "I hope to provide the catalyst that will inspire these future chefs to become future visionaries not only about food but in any and every branch of learning. The purpose of elBulli Foundation is to use cuisine as a discourse in order to create a dialogue with other disciplines. I want this to be a centre of innovation allied with digital technology that will offer other creative endeavours a roadmap for innovation." Gary Hunter, head of Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Westminster Kingsway College, said he was honoured to host Adrià: "Westminster Kingsway College is renowned for innovation and high performance in Hospitality and Culinary Arts. We have recently developed our new Culinary Science Laboratory and we are embedding Culinary Science in all levels of our courses. "We offer bespoke programmes that interpret the science behind the techniques and methods of cookery, so to welcome Ferran Adrià, the leading modernist cuisine innovator, to our college is an incredible honour. We are delighted to be able to offer our students access to his thoughts and inspiration and for him to see firsthand the educational and creative work that our students are undertaking."
