From 17th September companies are invited to enter the 2015 Freefrom Food Awards – the only industry awards for foods free from wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, soya, sulphites, nuts and other allergens.

The 2015 awards will introduce a further five new categories to the existing twelve award groups, including Retailer of the Year sponsored by Oakland International.

A recent YouGov survey discovered that almost one third of UK households now buy ‘freefrom’ food, and over 20% of the population eat it on a regular basis.

According to Freefrom Food Awards, their annual industry awards of excellence are a crucial indicator of quality in the dynamic and fast-paced food world. The 2015 charity Food Cycle, who work to limit the amount of food waste and tackle food poverty across the UK, will receive 10% of all entrants' fees.

Almost fifty independent chefs, food writers, dieticians, nutritionists, coeliacs and allergy sufferers will judge nearly 400 entries in seventeen categories, such as meat and fishy meals, breakfast and raw food and superfoods. Outsiders will also act as judges to benchmark the products against ‘normal’, non-freefrom equivalents.

Category winners receive the Freefrom Food Awards round yellow winners’ logo on their products and on their websites.

Director of the Freefrom Awards Michelle Berriedale-Johnson said: “As the ‘freefrom’ sector grows, so do the awards and it is great to see so many companies – from one man/woman start-ups to multinationals – battling it out to prove that freefrom food is not only as good as ‘normal’ food, but actually better!”

Anthony Worrall Thompson, chef-patron of the awards added: “The great thing about freefrom products today is that you no longer have to keep reminding yourself of what they are ‘free from’ because they just taste good!"

A shortlist will be published in mid February 2015 and presentations will take place on April 22nd 2015.
