Entries open for UK Young Seafood Chef of the Year 2017

Written by: Isabel Finch
Entries for the UK Young Seafood Chef of the Year have opened for full-time and college-based apprentice chefs under 25-years-old.

The three highest-scoring teams from each regional heat, taking place in May in Sunderland, North Wales and Norwich, will go through to the grand final where they have to create a menu using seafood species provided and undertake an ‘invention test’.

The competition’s final will take place in Grimsby on Tuesday, Jun 13th. Nathan Outlaw, who runs four seafood restaurants including the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, is set to be on the judging panel.

Supported in recent years by chefs including Jean-Christophe Novelli and Ben Bartlett, the Young Seafood Chef of the Year emphasises the importance of using sustainable seafood.

Colleges can enter teams of two chefs by downloading the application pack here.
