Elior UK partners with West College Scotland to develop young industry talent

Written by: Katie Imms
A new partnership between contract caterer, Elior UK, and West College Scotland aims to develop the young talent studying on the WCS & Elior Culinary Development course.

A select group of students now have the opportunity to undertake a 14-week course, where they will work three days a week at Ibrox stadium’s hospitality and function kitchens under the guidance of Rangers Football Club’s executive head chef, Jav Aziz. They will also attend classes at West College Scotland’s Paisley campus.

Upon competition, successful students will have earned an SVQ Level 1 in Food Preparation and Cooking, enabling them to apply for commis chef roles, a modern apprenticeship, or further culinary study.

Carl Morris, director of marketing and corporate communications at Elior, said: “Developing young talent is crucial for the future of our industry – something Elior is extremely passionate about. By partnering with West College Scotland we can provide students with the opportunity to put theory into practice and develop their skills and confidence in a professional environment.”

Curriculum and quality leader at West College Scotland, Carol Gaffney, added: “This course will be a springboard for students who have ambitions to secure a job as a commis chef or a modern apprentice. We’re very excited about how our new partnership with Elior will further enrich the course for our students and equip them for future success.”
