Eco chef and food writer Tom Hunt has been named runner up of the WWF Earth Hour Hero Awards in the Workplace Hero category.

British rower and Olympic gold medalist Andrew Triggs Hodge presented Hunt the award for his eco-friendly Poco tapas restaurants and co-founded social enterprise Forgotten Feast.

Hunt said: “It’s an incredible privilege to be amongst such inspiring people, all making a personal difference to help halt climate change. It has made me even more determined to do my bit and I’d urge all chefs out there to do the same and find mouth-watering ways of cutting down the UK’s eye-watering food waste”.

Hunt’s Poco restaurants in London and Bristol focus on the importance of how food is grown and sourced. Forgotten Feast creates pop-up restaurants with menus using unwanted food, which includes unusual cuts of meats and fresh fish discarded into the sea.

Poco tapas bars are located in Stoke’s Croft, Bristol and Hackney’s Broadway Market. Hunt also runs Poco Café and Poco Morocco, which are available for festival and event hire.
