Driving success at the Craft Guild's golf day

Written by: Admin
After an absence of five years, the Craft Guild of Chefs golf day made a welcome return on September 1.
The Craft Guild couldn't have wished for a better day as 120 players took to the sun soaked course at Wyboston Lakes Golf Club in Bedfordshire to compete for a host of prizes. On the golf course there were some amazing performances. Terry Tinton scooped first place in the Craft Guild members and partner companies' individual competition with 46 points and Ted Walpole won the guest individual event with 39 points. On the team front Gary Hunter, Ashley Spencer, Paul Jervis, and Tinton walked away with the first overall team winners' prize following a combined score of 128 points. There were no holes in one but special mentions go the British Culinary Federation who beat the Craft Guild team to win the Mike Sullivan Memorial Trophy, and Brian Eastment and James De Groot achieved the longest drives on the front and back nine. Matthew Collins and Jerry Frost were successful in getting nearest to the pin. Once the rounds were completed, it was on to a superb five course dinner prepared by Fergus Martin, the Guild's Culinary Academy team manager and executive chef at Wyboston Lakes. "This whole event wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of all the sponsors involved," said Craft Guild CEO. "From raffle prizes to the sponsorship of specific holes, all the support we have received has helped to contribute to this wonderful day." On the night more than £1,000 was raised from the raffle and the money will go towards helping two fantastic causes – the Craft Guild of Chefs Benevolent Fund, which helps chefs with any training needs, and CHICKS, a children's charity that aims to provide life enhancing respite breaks to disadvantaged children.
