Diners prefer restaurants’ own water over branded, according to research from Eau de Vie

Over half of UK diners (53%) would be more likely to return to a restaurant if it offered its own filtered water rather than branded water, according to research from filtered water systems supplier Eau de Vie.

The survey of over 2,000 people, undertaken with YouGov, also revealed 72% of consumers believe branded water to be a waste of money.

The study showed 10% of consumers would opt for branded bottled water, while 47% would prefer to drink a restaurant’s own filtered water.

David Smithson, chief executive of Eau de Vie, said: “The hospitality industry is making great strides in its commitment to operate sustainability and the results from research like this proves the positive reception this can generate from customers.

“By simply switching to filtered water systems, restaurants can not only build on their green credentials but also encourage repeat business from savvy consumers who recognise the detrimental effect of plastic water bottles on the environment.”
