Winnie Myers, Craft Guild of Chefs member and former head chef at the House of Lords, who passed away in January 2012, was remembered at a special ceremony on Saturday, July 6.

A bench and two rose bushes named Lovely Lady and Remember Me, sponsored by the Craft Guild of Chefs’ London Division, were dedicated to her by Reverend Allan Mitchell from St Mary’s Parish Church in Dalton in Furness, Cumbria. Both the roses and bench were placed at Staveley House in Dalton in Furness, her final home near her family.

The London Division’s spokesman, Cam Faherty, said: “We hope the residents get some pleasure from the roses and are able to spend more time sitting in the lovely gardens and feeding the ducks in the lake which gave Winnie so much pleasure.”

During the dedication the minister spoke of her continued commitment to the Cookery & Food Association and the Craft Guild of Chefs, as well as her continued hard work during her lifetime and the inspiration she gave to all who knew her.

The dedication was attended by family members, staff and residents of Staveley House and the Craft Guild’s London Division.
