The fifth Art In the Park festival organised by Milton Keynes Islamic Arts Heritage & Culture is taking place in Campbell Park on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3, from 1pm-7pm.

Festival-goers have the opportunity to meet top chef Cyrus Todiwala, who was recently named Personality of the Year at the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards and last autumn starred in the hit BBC 2 food series ‘The Incredible Spicemen’. He will be demonstrating how to prepare healthy Indian food on August 2.

He will also be judging a food competition to identify the best ‘healthy eating’ recipes among entries submitted by local people. Prizes up for grabs include dinner for two at Todiwala's restaurant, Café Spice Namasté, an overnight stay at a hotel within the Redefine BDL Hotels portfolio and tickets to the theatre.

On August 3, six talented chefs will demonstrate their culinary skills to an audience of aspiring chefs to be taught by the industry’s leading figures.

At 1pm, Alan Paton, head chef at Stoke by Nayland Hotel in Suffolk, will be demonstrating how to cook his rib ‘n’ roll breast of lamb, garlic cheese kebab, carrot, cumin purée, black lentil dahl, and pomegranate dish.

At 1.45pm, Robert Kennedy, executive chef at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, takes to the stage. Having cooked for the Queen during the Royal Jubilee, he is no stranger to cooking at the highest levels, but was now going to show families how to cook good food on a budget.

At 2.30pm, Steve Walpole showcases his authentic style of street food, which highlights his philosophy: “food is something to love and respect, less is more, keep it simple”. This will be through demonstrating simple bite-sized food and dishes to jazz up summer parties.

At 3.15pm award-winning chef Phil Thompson from Michelin-starred Thompson@Darcys will demonstrate what cooking with great produce is all about.

At 4pm, James Grant, The Cheese Man, brings interesting cheese varieties to the festival. Top variants include: the Wobbly Bottom and Blur’s bassist/cheese farmer Alex James’ Blue Monday cheese.

At 4.45pm, chef Damian Wawrzyniak will be preparing a range of desserts theatre-style to inspire people.

The event will be compèred by chef Murray Chapman, co-founder of ‘A Passion to Inspire’, a UK-wide initiative and competition to inspire and educate young people about the hospitality industry.
